Girl Assaulted In Greenwich Park During Large Gathering

Police are investigating and asking the public for help after a teenage girl was allegedly assaulted in a park during a large gathering of juveniles in Fairfield County.

The incident occurred in Greenwich around 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, at Byram Park.

According to Capt. John Slusarz of the Greenwich Police officers responded to Byram Park on a report of a large group of juveniles and young adults who had gathered after hours. 

As the group was being disbursed, officers located a teenage girl who had been the victim of an assault. The victim was transported to a hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries, Slusarz said. 

Detectives quickly learned that the assault was video recorded and that the video was distributed on social media.

Detectives from the Community Impact Section are working to identify the suspects involved in this incident.
